Measuring Air Quality in Your Area
Interested to know exactly what the air quality is like in your area?
Air Quality in Europe offers a handy guide, updated hourly, to give an index of the actual pollution by city.
This is measured both as a background index and also at the roadside, where pollution is typically worse. Pollutants monitored include NO2, PM10 O3, CO, PM2.5 and SO2 – a mix of gases and particulates.
The site currently measures many of the biggest cities in Europe, but offers local authorities the opportunity to add their own pollution measurement data. So if you’re keen to see your area’s air quality included, please lobby your local representative!
